Here is a general transcription of "Backwater" by Meat puppets. I didn't have time to nail down the bridge so you'll have to do some interpreting on your own. (I'll work more on it later). The intro lick that I have transcribed is also just an approximation of what is played. It's a simple lick in E major pentatonic that you should be able to pick out purely by ear. I'll follow up with more detail in a few days. Meanwhile we can get started on it.

Backwater -Meat puppets Intro (E-C#m-C-D) with solo guitar melody line
Muted dirty guitar
And when I wake up in the morning
To feel the daybreak on my face
There's a blood that's flowin' through the feeling
With a knife to open up the sky's vein
Some things...will never change
They just stand there looking backwards
Half unconscious from the pain
It may seem...rearranged
In the backwater swirling there is something that'll never change
And when I shoulda' been gone a long time Laughs...and says I find ways Just when we're sheltered under paper The rockets come at us sideways
Some things...will never change
They just stand there looking backwards
Half unconscious from the pain
It may seem...rearranged
In the backwater swirling there is something that'll never change
And when I wake up in the morning To feel the daybreak on my face There's a blood that's flowin' through the ceiling With a knife to open up the sky's vein
Some things...will never change They just stand there looking backwards Half unconscious from the pain It may seem...rearranged In the backwater swirling there is something that'll never change
Some things...will never change They just stand there looking backwards Half unconscious from the pain It may seem...rearranged In the backwater swirling there is something that'll never change
