Step In, Step Out by Weddings, Parties, Anything Words and Music by Michael Thomas Transcribed by Dean Malone
Note: For those of you who aren't aware, Weddings are an Australian folk/rock group whose first album was released in 1987 (they've since made another 6 - all big sellers in Australia). Probably their biggest claim to fame is that they're reportedly U2's favourite group. This song is from "Difficult Loves"
Playing Notes: This is just a simple strum in 4/4. The only 'different chord' is the D/F# bass with the F# being played in the 4th string. Tempo is sort of country-ish.
In the morning when from slumber you awake
Find me sleeping like a baby by your side
Get up, get off to work
'Cause there are cakes that must be baked
But if there's things that I must do
I'd sooner let them slide
Chorus:
And you step out, when I step in
It is a dance that is bizarre
It is a dance that's wearing thin
And you step in, when I step out
Though we can't find the time for talking
Seems we find the time to shout
And late at night when I come fumbling for my keys
The house is dark and all is quiet
Get into bed it is so hard for me to please
You're barely hours away from work
And you're so tired
Chorus:
And you step out, when I step in
It is a dance that is bizarre
It is a dance that's wearing thin
And you step in, when I step out
Though we can't find the time for talking
Seems we find the time to shout
Some people pray for rain
Some people pray for holidays
Some people pray for money without swelter
But we just pray for two shifts
At the same end of the day
And a life that is not quite so helter skelter
Chorus:
And you step out, when I step in
It is a dance that is bizarre
It is a dance that's wearing thin
And you step in, when I step out
Though we can't find the time for talking
Seems we find the time to shout
You and me, oh we've been living in different worlds
