Actually, it's "If I had a Boat"! When I saw Lyle in concert last October (the same week he was on the cover of National Enquirer), I was surprised to see him play this song with the capo so far up the neck, like the 8th or 9th fret, but it sure made the playing of the song easier! Check it out -- in open 'G' fingering, capo on 7th, 8th or 9th fret:
/Bbass /Bbass If I had a boat, I'd go out on the ocean /Bbass /Ebass D/F#bass And if I had a pony, I'd ride him on my boat (this first 'verse' C C/Bbass G C C/Bbass G turns out to be And we could all together, go out on the ocean the CHORUS) D/F#bass Just me upon my pony on my boat
/Bbass And if I were Roy Rogers, I'd sure enough be single D/F#bass I couldn't bring myself to marryin' old Dale /Bbass It'd just be me & Trigger; we'd go ridin' through them movies D/F#bass And we'd buy a boat and on the sea we'd sail
(CHORUS)
Well, the mystery masked man was smart, he got himself a Tonto Cuz Tonto did the dirty work for free But Tonto, he was smarter, and one day said Kemosabe You can kiss my ass, I bought a boat, I'm headed out to sea
(CHORUS)
(instrumental break)
And if I were like light'ning, I wouldn't need no sneakers Well, I'd come and go whenever I would please And I'd scare 'em by the shady tree, 'n scare 'em by the light pole But I would not scare my pony on my boat out on the sea
