[two versions] This is my first attempt at tabbing. I picked this song because it was fairly simple (no solo!). Listen to the song to get down the correct timings. Riffs A and C especially have a very bluesy feel to them. ------------------------------------------------------ Twist of Cain from the album Danzig Written by Glenn Danzig Notational Legend: x^y : bend string at fret x to note at fret y r : release from bend x^^^: vibrato (bend string back and forth rapidly) P.H.: pinch harmonic ^ : play sharply / : slide up \\\\: slide down to an indeterminate fret Riff A E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| D-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| A-|--6^7r---0---6---0---3---0---0-------|-7^^^^^--0---6---0---3---0---0-------| E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| P.H.(1) A(b5) End Riff A E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| D-|-------------------------------------|-----7--------7-------7--------------| A-|--7---7---0---6---0---3---0--0--0----|-----6--------6-------6--------------| E-|-------------------------------------|----(5)------(5)-----(5)-------------| ^(2) ^ ^ Riff B-1 Play 3 Times End Riff B-1 A5 C5 A5 C5 E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| D-|---7--7--7--7/10--10--10--10--10-----|---7--7--7--7/10-10-10-10\\\\\-------| A-|---7--7--7--7/10--10--10--10--10-----|---7--7--7--7/10-10-10-10\\\\\-------| E-|---5--5--5--5/8---10--8---8---8------|---5--5--5--5/8--8--8--10\\\\\-------| PM ------------------------: PM --------------: ^ Riff B-2 End Riff B-2 A5 C5 A(b5) E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| D-|--7--7--7--7/10--10--10--10--10------|----7--------7-------7---------------| A-|--7--7--7--7/10--10--10--10--10------|----6--------6-------6---------------| E-|--5--5--5--5/8---8---8---8---8-------|---(5)------(5)-----(5)--------------| PM ------------------------: ^ ^ ^ Riff C End Riff C A C5 A5 D5 E-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| G-|---2---------------------------------|----5---5---5---5---2----7----7------| D-|---2-------------------------1-------|----5---5---5---5---2----7----7------| A-|---0-----3---0---------0-----1-------|----3---3---3---3---0----5----5------| E-|------------------3------------------|-------------------------------------| Notes: (1) I'm not sure exactly what John Christ is doing here. There may be an overdubbed tone on this note. You really need lots of distortion to make it squeal. I think a cranked tube amp like a Marshall with a touch of feedback does the trick! (2) I think this actually sounds better just playing the 4th and 5th strings, which is why I put the 6th string note in parentheses. It has a stronger sound to it, since the flatted 5th isn't swallowed up by both the root and octave tones.
