Hi there! Here's a tab of Laughter, by Bruce Cockburn (from "Further Adventures of..." 1978). Since tabbing this piece i have come to think that it may _possibly_ be in open C. However, it works perfectly well in dropped-D, too. The only difficulty is in the chorus section: for the first chord shape, you need to barre the E,A & D strings at the 2nd fret with your first finger, while keeping the G string open AND fretting the B and e strings at 3 and 5 respectively. If that's just ridiculous, then ignore the open G string and play a straight barre chord. I haven't included timing marks: I figure you'd have to know the song to want to try and play it anyway. Note that Bruce modifies the verse section a couple of times to get a more arpeggiated, sustained feel (eg the verse about nuclear good-time boys). For this you can use the same fingerings, just change the style. That reminds me... i have one question about the lyrics of the song that you may be able to help with: Here's to the sun _______________???? Through a thermal inversion haze Here's to the nuclear good time boys Numbering all our days... Comments, corrections welcome (nay, encouraged!).
